Programme delivery & learning

Run every programme against a measurable definition of progress.

MGS shows what must change for each business to move. Mothusi organises delivery, evidence and authorised review around those defined gaps - across the whole cohort.

Book a programme briefing

Programme stages track delivery. MGS tracks the business.

A business can attend every session and still remain stuck. Another can clear the right levers early and become ready for funding, procurement or graduation before the programme ends.

MGS - the Mothusi Growth Score: a five-tier maturity standard where every movement in the score must be supported by evidence.

1 · Set the programme target against MGS

Set the rules before applications open.

MGS provides the common structure for maturity, levers, evidence and movement. The institution defines who the programme targets, which MGS positions and levers matter, the outcomes it intends to produce, any programme-specific conditions, and who is authorised to review and clear evidence.

The same rules then govern selection, baseline, delivery, intervention, review and reporting. The programme is not interpreted differently at each stage.

The programme starts with a defined movement target, not a generic support plan.

2 · Select against the target

Turn applications into comparable programme records.

Applications are not treated as separate PDFs, spreadsheets and judgement calls. Mothusi checks completeness, applies the programme rules and shows each applicant’s MGS position, eligibility fit, stuck levers, evidence status and recommended next step.

The programme team still makes the selection decision. Mothusi makes the decision easier to defend.

Selection is based on fit, evidence and movement potential, not application volume.

3 · Lock the cohort baseline

Use the cohort’s stuck levers to shape the programme.

Once the cohort is selected, contracting closes the administrative step. The important work is the baseline: which businesses are starting where, which MGS levers are stuck, what evidence is missing and what intervention is required.

Mothusi already shows the gap pattern for each business and across the cohort, so the programme does not invent custom growth plans from scratch. Mentors, workshops, clinics, support cases and review queues are assigned against those gaps.

The baseline becomes the delivery plan: stuck levers, evidence required, intervention assigned.

4 · Run delivery against stuck levers

Keep support tied to the business gap it is meant to fix.

Once the cohort baseline is locked, delivery is no longer a list of generic activities. Mentoring, workshops, specialist support, field visits and assignments are linked to the stuck MGS levers they are meant to move.

The programme manager can see which businesses are active, which are blocked, which evidence is due, which reviews are waiting, and which interventions are not producing movement.

Delivery is not measured by activity volume. It is measured by whether stuck levers clear, evidence improves and businesses move.

5 · Keep business signals current

Capture what changed before the next review.

Businesses change between mentoring sessions. Revenue moves, payments slip, documents expire, new contracts arrive, and evidence improves or goes stale.

Mothusi AI collects short monthly updates, reads new evidence and turns the latest activity into structured signals. The Growth Record is updated with what changed, what risk moved, which lever is affected and what action is now required.

Mothusi AI keeps each business record current so mentors and reviewers are not working from last month’s information. It does not replace programme judgement.

6 · Target repeated cohort gaps

Use cohort evidence to decide what support to deliver next.

When the same lever is stuck across multiple businesses, Mothusi surfaces the pattern and prepares the intervention case for programme approval. The programme can see how many businesses are blocked, why they are blocked, what evidence is missing and which intervention should be launched.

This is not generic training. A workshop only matters if it helps businesses produce the evidence needed to clear the lever.

Cohort gaps determine where support is deployed. Programme teams target the intervention, collect the evidence and review whether the lever actually moved.

7 · Verify movement and route what comes next

Report what changed, not just what was delivered.

At the end of the programme, Mothusi does not only show attendance, workshops completed or mentoring hours delivered. It shows whether businesses moved.

The review combines baseline position, delivery activity, submitted evidence, reviewer decisions, cleared levers, risk changes and MGS movement. Businesses can graduate, continue with conditions, extend support or exit - and be routed to funding review, a buyer opportunity, an advanced programme or specialist support.

8 · Ask for the report

Reporting is a question, not a project.

Ask Mothusi for what you need in plain language: the funder report, cohort movement, exceptions, evidence appendices or a single business file.

Every report is generated from the live records used to run the programme, so nothing is reconstructed at quarter-end - and every figure links to its source and reviewer history.

Mothusi AI for programmes

Continuous guidance between human touchpoints.

Mothusi AI runs structured check-ins, explains what the participant should do next and guides practical tasks and evidence preparation.

When judgement, verification or specialist support is required, it routes the case to the appropriate mentor or programme team.

Escalate and record

Route exceptions to people and update the Growth Record.

You are at the Forming stage. You have completed 2 of the 7 requirements needed to move to Operating.

Your next requirement: show that Tshiamo Electrical has completed a customer job or sale.

This confirms that a customer placed an order and that the work was completed or the product was delivered.

MGS lever: Customer Proof

What to do next: upload any customer evidence you already have. This could include:

  • an accepted quotation, purchase order or contract;
  • an invoice sent to the customer;
  • proof that the work or product was delivered;
  • proof of payment.

You do not need all four. Upload what you have and I will check it, explain what is still needed and prepare the evidence for review.

Upload evidenceShow me an example

I have a quotation and an invoice, but the customer has not paid yet.

That is a good start. Upload both documents. I will check that the customer details, amounts and dates match.

Because payment has not yet been received, we may also need proof that the work was completed, such as a delivery note, completion confirmation or message from the customer.

Once the evidence is complete, I will send it to the authorised reviewer.

Not sure what qualifies as proof of delivery? I can show you a two-minute example using documents similar to yours.

For the business

  • A clear priority and next action
  • Help completing tasks between sessions
  • Progress carried into the same Growth Record

For the programme

  • More current participant information
  • Stalled businesses and exceptions surfaced early
  • Mentor time directed where judgement is needed

MGS defines what must be cleared. Mothusi AI guides the participant through the work. Human mentors spend less time reconstructing the business and more time applying judgement where it matters.

Programme stage is not the outcome.

A participant can finish every programme activity and still show no business movement. Another can clear the right levers early and become ready for funding or procurement before the programme ends. MGS separates delivery activity from verified business progress.
