1What it measures
Every business, measured on the same five things.
Where it stands, what it still needs, how strong its proof is, what holds it back and which way it is moving. Asked of a bakery, a builder and a farm alike.
The maturity tier it has reached.
OperatingThe next things to put in place.
Signed contracts on fileThe grade behind each claim, R1 to R5.
R3, backed by documentsWhat it cannot finish yet, and why.
Needs a cold roomMonth by month, up or down.
↑ 26 points in 18 monthsAccounting standards give a common way to measure a company’s finances. MGS gives a common way to measure the health of a business.
2Compare
Compare a farm with a builder on the same scale.
Each proves its customers its own way: signed contracts for one, offtake agreements for the other. Both land on the five tiers, six pillars and 67 levers, so a portfolio of a thousand businesses can be ranked and reported as one.
Sorted by score. The tier beside it shows what each business has proved, which is why Puleng scores higher than Mokoena but sits a tier lower.

3Five tiers
Everyone knows exactly what the next tier takes.
Each tier has a short list of gates, the same list for every programme, fund and buyer. When its gates are proved and signed off, the business moves up, so the owner, the programme and the funder all see the same finish line.
Registered and starting to trade. Proving the basics.
Trading steadily, with books, a bank account and paying customers on record.
A monthly close for 18 months, several buyers, compliance current, a written way of working.
Reviewed or audited accounts, governance beyond the founder, new regions or products.
Audited, board-governed, able to raise capital at scale.
The gates out of Forming
Only the gates move a business up, so a tier means the same thing in every programme and every fund.

4Evidence
Every claim shows its proof, and who checked it.
Each of the 67 levers names the evidence it needs. Each piece carries its grade, from the owner’s word to a third party’s confirmation, and only a named reviewer can sign it off, so every decision rests on evidence anyone can see.
The core stays the same everywhere. Local, sector and programme requirements layer on top, so the evidence can differ while the language of progress stays shared.

5Missions
Mothusi tells every business its next mission.
Each gap turns into work with a reason attached. The owner picks the one that moves them furthest, does it and sends the proof, and a named reviewer signs it off. One verified requirement can bring the owner closer to real money.
Prove repeat demand
Sebata Construction, your strongest next move is to prove a customer came back. Bring a signed follow-on order and a paid invoice. It closes one of the three gaps left for the ESD Fund.
Mothusi recommends. The owner chooses.
Do the work, drop in the proof
A signed order from the same customer, dated 12 August, for R86,400. Invoice 0412, paid on 3 September, matches it. Both are complete and consistent. Send them for review?
Mothusi checks and asks. Nothing is sent without the owner’s consent.
A named person signs it off
One verified requirement moves the business closer to real money.

6One record
Prove it once. It counts everywhere.
Verified documents and sign-offs stay on the business’s record and go with it, with its consent, to every programme, fund and buyer it chooses. Applications start mostly filled in, and growth shows month by month.

7Readiness
Know who is ready for what, before anyone applies.
A fund, a buyer or a programme writes its conditions once, in the standard. Every business sees whether it is ready now, nearly ready or not yet, with the exact gap and how to close it.
The institution decides on facts both sides can see. After the award, the same record keeps tracking delivery, money, risks, milestones, jobs and repayments.

8Programmes and funds
Pick the tier. See who fits. Track who gets there.
Say where businesses should get to and which levers matter most. Mothusi finds the ones already on file, invites them with their consent, follows every step, and counts how many reached it, not how many attended.
Programme

9Support
Send each business the help it actually needs.
Take 39 that share one gap. The standard shows why each one is stuck, so 18 go straight to a reviewer, 12 get a clinic, 6 do it with Mothusi and 3 get a bookkeeper. Every rand goes where it clears the gap, and you see whether it did.
Monthly financials, updated · 39 open
The evidence already exists. Straight to an authorised reviewer.
The financial records mission, with a clinic beside it.
The same work, with Mothusi and the built-in tools.
A bookkeeper does a defined part.
27 of the 39 never sit in a class they did not need. The 12 who need one get it.
Mothusi runs and tracks each response: the work, the cost, the evidence, the review, and whether the blocker actually cleared. The same view shows where blockers repeat by tier, sector, region or programme.

10Impact
Show any funder exactly what changed.
Every business is measured the same way when it joins and every month after. So a programme shows who advanced, who held and who slipped, with the proof and the reviewer behind each one, in a report a board, an investor or a government can check.
Levers strengthened, gaps closed.
No verified change since the last review.
Flagged early, with the reason.
Every movement opens to the business, the requirement, the document and the reviewer who signed it off.

11Anywhere
One standard, in any sector and any country.
The tiers, pillars and levers never change. What counts as proof is local: the national registration and tax records, the evidence each trade keeps, each programme’s own questions, all mapped onto the same measure.
A tier means the same in a vegetable tunnel in Phokeng and a print shop in Johannesburg.
Detailed for South Africa today. More countries are being mapped.
Each sector proves the same lever its own way.
Add what you need. The measure stays shared.
12How it runs
Every document, check‑in and sign‑off updates the business’s standing.
The standard sets what counts. The record holds each business’s evidence and history. Mothusi explains, recommends and drafts from that record, for thousands of businesses at once.
Defines what matters and how movement is judged.
Carries where the business stands, its evidence, blockers and history.
Explains, recommends, tutors, drafts and escalates, from that record.
Confirm what matters and hold every decision.
The right mission, explanation, tool, check-in or person, based on what is actually happening in that business.
Where blockers repeat, who is ready for what, which support worked, all read through the same standard.
Mothusi does the reading, matching and drafting. Your people make every decision.
