Capital deployment & portfolio management
Deploy capital against a current,
evidence-backed business record.
Use the same authorised Growth Record to screen the pipeline, assemble the application, prepare the investment case, record the decision, control disbursement, monitor the facility and review what changed after funding.
MGS organises business position, readiness, evidence and movement. Your institution sets policy, conducts the analysis, approves the facility and controls the capital.
One record before the decision. The same record after it.
The business file does not need to be rebuilt after approval, and the portfolio does not need to be reconstructed at quarter-end.
1 · Set the facility mandate and screen the pipeline
Define who the capital is for and what must be in place before an application proceeds.
Set the capital available, ticket size, permitted use of funds, sectors, locations, ownership rules, terms, exclusions, evidence requirements and review roles.
MGS position, tier, relevant levers and evidence freshness can be used alongside the fund policy. The fund remains responsible for eligibility and every capital decision.
Authorised Growth Records can then be screened before a new application is opened. The team can see which businesses fit, which are close and why the remainder fall outside the mandate.

MGS organises the business evidence. The fund applies its own policy.
2 · Assemble the application from the Growth Record
Ask for what the facility still needs.
The applicant does not repeat information that is already current and authorised. Company information, ownership, compliance, financial records, customer evidence, delivery history and programme records can be brought into the facility application.
Mothusi shows what can be reused, what must be refreshed and what is specific to this facility. Nothing is submitted without applicant approval.

Mothusi AI for funding
Turn every readiness gap into a clear pathway before the application reaches committee.
Mothusi AI explains the facility conditions to each business, compares them with the authorised Growth Record and identifies exactly what is already satisfied, what evidence is missing and what action remains.
Businesses that qualify can move into review. Those that nearly qualify receive a named readiness pathway rather than an unexplained rejection.
Before application
- Explains the facility requirements
- Checks current tier, levers and evidence
- Identifies expired or missing records
- Guides the business through readiness actions
- Prepares the application from verified information
- Leaves all submission decisions with the owner
Before committee
- Drafts an IC memo from source-linked evidence
- Identifies contradictions and missing information
- Footnotes figures to the underlying records
- Surfaces current risks and unresolved conditions
- Routes the draft to the portfolio team for editing
After funding
- Runs structured milestone updates
- Collects agreed evidence
- Flags missed commitments and emerging risks
- Keeps repayments, milestones and business health together
- Routes exceptions to the responsible portfolio officer
AI prepares the case. Fund managers test it. The investment committee decides.
3 · Prepare the investment case from source-linked evidence
Keep the case connected to the material behind it.
Mothusi prepares a first draft from the completed application and authorised Growth Record. Financial figures, customer evidence, business history, MGS position and current risks remain linked to their sources.
The platform can also flag missing, stale or conflicting evidence before circulation.
The analyst tests the case, edits the memorandum and owns the recommendation. Human underwriting remains human.
Product UI · illustrative data
Every material claim remains linked to its source and review history.
4 · Record the decision, reasons and conditions
Keep the committee decision beside the case it considered.
Committee members receive the reviewed memorandum and authorised source pack. Votes, comments, reservations and proposed conditions are recorded against the same case.
The final decision remains human. Mothusi preserves the decision basis and converts approved conditions into tracked requirements.

Conditions become controlled requirements, not text buried in meeting minutes.
5 · Contract, clear conditions and release capital
Turn the approved decision into controlled releases.
Approved terms and conditions feed into the contracting pack, conditions-precedent register and tranche schedule. The legal and finance teams remain responsible for final documents and release approval.
Mothusi tracks which requirements are complete, which evidence supports them and who authorised each release.

6 · Monitor the facility and the business together
Keep capital obligations beside the current business position.
Post-funding monitoring is not limited to a repayment schedule. Mothusi brings together milestone evidence, tranche conditions, repayments, business updates, customer changes, compliance freshness, support needs and MGS risk signals.
Information can come from the business, portfolio team, field visits, documents, monthly check-ins and connected records.
Mothusi prepares the update and routes exceptions. The portfolio team decides how to respond, and authorised reviewers decide whether evidence changes the MGS position.

7 · Manage the portfolio by exception
See what requires action without reopening every facility.
The portfolio view brings together committed and disbursed capital, scheduled and received repayments, release gates, overdue evidence, covenant issues, emerging business risks and support requests.
Exceptions are routed to a named owner with the decision or action required.
22 active facilities R38.4m committed · R29.7m disbursed
Product UI · illustrative data
The portfolio team works from exceptions, not disconnected spreadsheets and status calls.
8 · Review capital performance and business movement
See how the facility is performing and what changed in the business during the funding period.
Capital performance and business movement are reported side by side.
The institution can review what was committed and released, which conditions were cleared, whether repayments and milestones are current, what risks changed and whether the funded businesses strengthened or weakened against their MGS baseline.
Capital performance and business movement performance to date
Product UI · illustrative data
Every result can be opened back to the source, reviewer and date.
One record across the capital decision and the business result.
The board, funder and audit team can open why a business entered the pipeline, what evidence supported the application, how the analyst reached the recommendation, what the committee decided, which conditions controlled contracting and release, whether milestones and repayments are current, which risks changed after funding, and whether the business position improved, remained stable or weakened.
Deploy the capital. Keep the evidence connected.
Mothusi manages the record, evidence and workflow. Your institution sets policy, conducts the analysis, makes the decision and controls the capital.
